For the first seven weeks (one rotation through the schedule), the Bridgewater and Area Mixed Softball League has piloted a New Walk Rule in 2026.

The New Walk Rule is that any walk to any player at any time is an automatic double.

As this is a pilot, the League Executive is seeking feedback on whether the Captains wish to continue with this rule for the rest of the 2026 season, or whether it wishes to change the rule.

Please consult with your players and submit this form by 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 24.

The results will be shared with the Captains on Wednesday night/Thursday morning. The vote will determine whether or not the New Walk Rule pilot continues or whether it is modified for the duration of the season.

1) Maintain the New Walk Rule: any walk to any batter is a double. 2) Modified New Walk Rule: Four straight balls to any batter is a double; all other walks only a single base is awarded. 3) Old Walk Rule: Any walk to a male batter in front of a female batter in the batting order is an automatic double; female batter behind hits as usual. All other walks are one base awarded only.
